Kim Epperson recently returned from her adventure to the Galapagos Islands, Equador and heartily recommends one and all to visit there for memories of a lifetime. Her trip consisted of a 2 day visit to Quito, where she straddled the Equator....one foot in the Northern Hemishere, one in the Southern. From there, it was onto a cruise throughout several of the Galapagos Islands. Her comment, "It is the Garden of Eden come to life for all to visit....a locale where visitors come face to face with animals who show no fear of humans". Hands down, her highlight, she recounted: Swimming with the sea lions who came so close that the bubbles they emitted as they breathed actually blinded her momentarily as she swam!
Angie Simpson (agent at Travel Smart) enjoyed a family vacation to the Riviera Maya in Mexico, located about one hour south of Cancun. Her and her family stayed at the beautiful Barcelo Maya Beach Resort. As you can see by her photo's, the grounds of this resort are very lush and tropical. While there, her family went on an ATV tour and swam in a cenote (underground cave), as well as snorkelled and jet-skiied. The expansive beach and pool area provided many opportunities for water activities. Angie states that this resort offers many fun dining options as well. This truly is a resort for everyone to enjoy!
Tina Brunck (owner of Travel Smart) and four clients took a Globus escorted tour of Italy in October 2011.
The itinerary began in Rome and included Pisa, Florence, and Venice. Italy proved to be an amazing place for history, scenery, and wonderful European culture.
Highlights of the trip were the Vatican, Tuscan countryside, and the canals of Venice.
Italy is an awesome place and on the list to return.
Dr. Roberto Aguilar visited Peru in early November 2011. During his stay he visited the mysterious Machu Picchu (a 15th century Inca site located high in the Peruvian mountains). Dr. Aguilar stated that this was quite an amazing adventure and he would recommend it to all.
While in Peru he also visited Lima and Cusco.
Angie Simpson (agent at Travel Smart) just returned from a Norwegian Coastal Voyage on the Hurtigruten m/s Finnmarken. This ship visits 4 - 5 ports/towns each day. While in Kirkenes, we went dog sledding, visited the Snow Hotel and hand fed reindeer. We stopped in Tromso for a midnight concert at the Cathedral. We visited a small church in Trondenes that was built in the 1100's. We crossed the Arctic Circle and were able to see the Northern Lights (Aurora Borealis) - which was very high on my bucket list. We also visited Hammerfest, known as the "World's Northernmost Town", and home to the famous Polar Bear Club.
This was truly an amazing trip.
